Volunteer - Sjogren's Syndrome Walkabout

This event benefits the Sjogren’s Syndrome Foundation which promotes education for patients with this autoimmune disease and doctors, increases awareness, and supports research.  There will also be an Autoimmune Disease Health Fair. A family fun event including a beautiful 2 mile stroll in the park to raise money and awareness for Sjögren's Syndrome!

Our volunteers will be acting as greeters to dirct participants to the Health Fair and Registration tents, handing out event guides and setting up and overseeing the food tent. We'll go out for lunch after the event.

Time: 8am - Noon (Carpooling details forthcoming)

Sjögren's syndrome is an autoimmune disease in which the body's immune system mistakenly attacks its own moisture producing glands. Sjögren's is one of the most prevalent autoimmune disorders, striking as many as 4,000,000 Americans. Nine out of ten patients are women. The average age of onset is late 40s although Sjögren's occurs in all age groups in both women and men.

Volunteer -The Teal Tea

Location: Hyatt Regency Hotel
Route 1, Princeton

The event is held by the Teal Tea Foundation to raise funds for ovarian cancer awareness and research. The Tea includes a silent auction, individual competitions for the most beautifully decorated tea table and the best hat parade.

Volunteers are needed to set up for the auction, work the registration table, monitor the auction and help with prizes. Food is provided.

Social - Head to Toe Women's Expo

 

Time: 9am – 3pm

Location: Robbinsville High School, 155 Edinburgh-Robbinsville Rd, Robbinsville, NJ

The World Health Organization estimates that the eyesight of one-fourth of the world's population can be improved through the use of corrective lenses.

Unfortunately for many, a pair of glasses is both unaffordable and inaccessible. In developing countries, an eye exam costs as much as one month's wages, and a single doctor may serve a community of hundreds of thousands of people.

For nearly 70 years, individual Lions Clubs have collected used eyeglasses for distribution to the needy in developing nations.

Volunteers are needed to help sort glasses for distribution to other countries at the Marie Katzenbach School for the Deaf.

Time:  9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

Location:  Katzenbach School for the Deaf, 320 Sullivan Way, West Trenton (drive in until you have to turn right; then, fourth, & final, left at the stop sign)

Helping The Children's Home Society set-up and run its big annual Gala fundraising event is an MCSV tradition!  No matter what your skills and abilities, there's bound to be a volunteer opportunity suited just for you!

TBA Volunteer - Luther Towers Food Delivery
Crisis Ministry

We will meet at the Crisis Ministry location on East Hanover St. and pick up pre-packaged bags of groceries to be delivered to clients at the Luther Towers. We will transport and assist in delivering the groceries to the residents. The Crisis Ministry's first mission is to help prevent hunger and homelessness in Mercer County, through direct contact with our neighbors. Many of our elderly neighbors require the assistance of the Crisis Ministry.

Time:  9:00 a.m. - noon (estimated)

Location:  Crisis Ministry of Trenton, 123 East Hanover St., Trenton and the Luther Towers, 489 West State St., Trenton

Volunteers needed:  3 to 6

Luther Towers Project Leader: 

Directions:  Route 1 (north or south) to Perry St., turn left off exit ramp. Turn left onto Montgomery St., Turn right on east Hanover. Located in second block, on left. Monitored parking ($2) across the street.

Volunteer -Bingo at the Mercer County Geriatric Center

Have a blast helping folks play bingo!

Help residents of Mercer County Geriatric Center play bingo. Due to sight and hearing limitations, some residents need assistance to play this fun and lively game. This event generates a lot of interest, so be sure to sign up early!

Time:  6:15 p.m. - 8:15 p.m.
